2012 and we are all connected via mobile devices

Over the next four years, the world’s major telecommunications groups will deploy 4G wireless broadband services.  For lack of a better term, this will be the introduction of the mobile internet.  The new 3G iPhone and many sub note book computers like the eeePC portent this future.

The new technologies that provide the springboard for the mobile internet include the 4G standard, WiMax, and LTE , which is the 3GPP technology favoured by most of the world’s largest incumbent telco operators.

What this means for www.UK-Local-Search.co.uk is that we may not ever have to design for the various mobile devices as the ability to “surf” the internet with a traditional web browser – may be an adequate user expereince.

So far, WiMax seems to be leading the race, with real products coming on to the market and big deployments proceeding.

The main reasons cited by respondents for deploying mobile enterprise applications were improved employee productivity and increased employee availability.

High speed mobile broadband will allow businesses to access many of their existing enterprise applications without the need to re-write them for slower networks.
